The Drums’ lead singer Jonny Pierce saunters around the stage swinging his arms behind his back and rolling his eyes while singing…like a shoulder-heavy Anthony Kiedis. Their jukebox sound and 1960s California-cool surf tempo makes everyone shake their hips.
Pierce was clad in black denim that was cropped an inch above his Chelsea boots, revealing his white socks. His 1990s short-sleeved button up shirt had prints of pineapples, lemons and limes (probably a nod to his Brooklyn via Florida background). The Drums’ energy washed over the crowd and before we knew it their set was over and time to unplug. Time flies when you are with The Drums. Their next album, Portamento, is coming out this fall and we are eager to see what they have in store for us.
