Andrew Goes to Washington

Meet USC Film Student: Andrew Aidman

Reported by: Laura Sortwell

Hometown? Dream town?

Miami, Florida

Who inspires you?

Woody Allen, Chet Baker, Jean Pierre Jeunet, Nat King Cole, Willy Wonka

Favorite place in LA?

I love so much of LA, but being from Miami, I never grew up with mountains, so I find Topanga canyon so beautiful. Also Huntington Gardens is pure botanical magic.

Favorite movie?

Annie Hall

Best advice ever received?

Stay Silly. Also, ’tis better to have happiness and health, then power and wealth.

What have you learned most while being at USC?

I learned that making a film happens in three stages. The writing of the script, the writing of the shots on set, and the writing of the edit.

Why did you want to become a film maker?

I just love making films. The writing, the casting, the shooting, the editing, I love it all. I don’t think you can’t be a film maker unless you just love the process. I think that’s because movies are so much work. But if you love it, then it’s really no work at all. Its just playing around.

If you could shoot anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Paris, So many great films have been made in the city of lights, and I would love a chance to shoot it as well! Big fan of Woody Allen’s new film ( Midnight In Paris) I hope it takes home the Oscar.

What’s your vice?

Too many milk shakes.

How would you define love?

Love is when you realize it’s all one.

Check out one of his works below.

Ain’t She Sweet
