Check Out: Game of Thrones Night at the Bayou

I’m not a foodie, but I know what I like. One of my favorite restaurants is The Bayou on Gramatan Avenue in Mount Vernon, NY. A Cajun restaurant with over a hundred different types of hot sauce (including Dave’s Insanity Sauce aka the Sauce of Death), the Bayou also plays host to an eclectic range of live music. Such well known tribute bands as Black Dog and Into the Void have played multiple gigs there. But on Sunday nights fro 8pm to clothing, the Bayou becomes House Bayou of Fleetwood for Game of Thrones night.

On Game of Thrones night, the Bayou’s bartender dresses like a medieval serving girl to serve you a stein of Krombacher and answer any questions you might have about the show. (She knows the books) The Bayou also has a special menu created just for this occasion like Riverrun Rabbit Skewers, Blackwater Bay Seafood Stew, Khal Drogo Tequila Shots, and Lemon Cakes. The Lemon Cakes are awesome and taste like lemon meringue pie.

Finally, there’s the raffle. For every drink you buy your name is entered into a raffle where you can win cool prizes like a House Stark ring or a House Baratheon shield or (on the night of the final episode) a set of Game of Thrones steins. Speaking of steins, don’t forget to save your Krombacher glasses and bring them the next week for discounted drinks.
