DIY Tassel Statement Necklace
Tassels are awesome because they are bold while also being classic and refined. Statement necklaces are awesome because they can take even a t-shirt and jeans and create a chic, pulled-together look. Take a look below for a step-by-step guide to creating your own tassel statement necklace.
You can use any color/size tassels, any color ribbon, and as many or as few tassels as you want. I bought mine at M&J (they came in a 3 pack). They are 5.5 inches from top to bottom. The ribbon I found on a J. Crew box and I used a lot of it (about 60 inches) because I wanted a big bow in the back. Using a more coarse ribbon for this is a good idea so your tassels don’t slide around too much. Grosgrain would work really well.
Take one end of your ribbon and thread it through the loop on the top of your tassel.
Then take the end of the ribbon and thread it back around through the loop of the tassel again
Pull the ribbon tight. You will end up with the loop of the tassel doubled-up around the ribbon. Hold on to the ribbon and pull down on the end of the tassel to tighten this a bit. Slide tassel into place on the ribbon. Repeat for each tassel.
Tie this around your neck with a big bow in the back.
